I saw 'One missed Call' today and I was surprised at how it compared to other movies in the genre such as 'Halloween', 'Scream', 'Friday the 13th' and'Nightmare on Elm Street'. I've seen all these, because sometimes I enjoy a real scary horror movie. They usually include a certain amount of gore, and foul language.
'One Missed Call' is diffferent because it didn't have the same level of gore you might expect. It had some, but not as much as the others, where you might see gore such as body parts cut off. There was some mild cursing. Early on, they are having a party and one of the ladies walks in on a couple having sex. You don't see it, but you know what they were doing.
A detective (whose sister was one of the victims) teams up with one of the 'future' victims who received a phonecall, to find the killer. There is one scene where the detective is yelling at the phone for the 'evil spirit' to leave it, kind of like an exorcism. I thought that scene was stupid.
Overall. the plot is cool. One by one, these people receive a phonecall/voicemail. The date might be a couple of days in the future. It is the date and time of their death. They also hear themself at the time of their death. After their death, their phone then calls someone else with the date/time of their death.
There turns out to be 2 connections between the victims: they are all on the same guy's contact list, and they were all involved in the same event, but I don't want to say any more and spoil it for anyone. And the killer turns out to be....NOT who you think it is! LOL
