It should be titled, Mary, Mother of God. Instead, the title may suggest yet another movie that down plays Mary to just some human woman. Certainly, catholic doctrine will be washed to suit the media.
Everything in that preview was based on the Passion of the Christ (the music was directly out of it), and the name is clearly based on "The Passion of the Christ"
Barbara Nicolosi is not one to hide Catholic doctrine. The fact that her name is attached to this project makes me hopeful.
My guess is that this movie is intending to bring back to the theatres the Passion crowd. That's why it's named what it's named.
P.S. Mary is just "some human woman" by nature; as St. Louis de Montfort stated: "nothing and less than nothing." All the honor that is given to her is due on account of grace and not because of nature.
I am hopeful that this film will follow in the footsteps of "The Passion" and the preview seems to imply that. It's a tall order, but if they remain humble and prayerful, I know Our Lady will guide them.
The movie hasn't started production just yet, and I know this because I'm interning at the company producing it.
Totus is correct about Barb and her work--the script is beautiful and 100% Catholic. I can't name names for legal reasons, but the cast is completely A-list as well.

I hope this is good, but the trailer is quite dull. Is there no actual footage to use for a trailer yet?

BTW, I should add that I have no idea who this person is on youtube as my company did not make this video.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing someone heard about the movie and then made a fan-type video.
